Document Code: LC-SEP-09
Version: V1.0
Effective Date: 15/12/2025
Approved By: Director – Partnerships
1. Purpose
Lux Crafter is committed to designing and delivering excursions that create meaningful experiences while safeguarding communities, ecosystems, and cultural heritage. This policy establishes a structured framework to ensure all excursions balance guest satisfaction with environmental responsibility, social equity, safety, and ethical conduct, in alignment with international sustainable tourism principles.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
-
All excursions, guided tours, activities, and events organised by Lux Crafter
-
All subcontracted partners, including transport providers, guides, activity operators, and destination communities
-
All employees involved in product design, operations, procurement, contracting, and quality control
Compliance with this policy is mandatory and forms part of supplier onboarding and contracting requirements.
3. Guiding Principles
Environmental Responsibility
Lux Crafter prioritises low-impact excursions such as cultural walks, heritage experiences, and nature-based activities. Environmentally sensitive or fragile areas are avoided during vulnerable periods, and ecological footprint is minimised through responsible planning and resource use.
Cultural Respect & Preservation
All excursions are designed to protect local traditions, sacred sites, and indigenous knowledge. Cultural interactions must be voluntary, respectful, dignified, and free from exploitation or misrepresentation.
Community Empowerment
We prioritise partnerships with local and community-based enterprises to ensure fair economic participation. Transparent pricing, fair compensation, and local sourcing of services and arts are actively encouraged.
Ethical Conduct & Animal Welfare
Lux Crafter maintains zero tolerance for wildlife exploitation, captive abuse, or unethical animal interactions. Excursions must comply with recognised animal welfare standards, labour laws, and human rights principles.
4. Guide Standards & Professional Conduct
Only qualified, licensed, and trained guides may operate excursions. All guides must:
-
Hold valid licenses, permits, and first aid/CPR certification
-
Demonstrate strong cultural, environmental, and interpretative knowledge
-
Follow approved routes, safety protocols, and emergency procedures
-
Uphold professional conduct, cultural sensitivity, and child protection standards
Regular training, performance evaluation, and documentation verification are mandatory. Non-compliance may result in suspension or removal from approved supplier status.
5. Health, Safety & Resource Management
Lux Crafter works exclusively with licensed, insured, and safety-compliant operators. Risk assessments, emergency preparedness, and clear safety briefings are required for all excursions. Waste reduction, elimination of single-use plastics, and low-emission transport options are actively promoted.
6. Excursion Design & Monitoring
All excursions are evaluated against sustainability criteria covering:
-
Environmental impact
-
Community benefit
-
Cultural integrity
-
Animal welfare
-
Safety, legal compliance, and carbon footprint
Supplier agreements, compliance checks, corrective actions, and traveller feedback are documented and reviewed periodically to ensure continuous improvement.
7. Responsible Tourist Guidelines
Travellers are guided to respect local culture, conserve resources, protect wildlife, support local economies, and avoid illegal or unethical practices. Clear do’s and don’ts are communicated prior to participation.
8. Enforcement
Any violation of this policy may result in corrective action, suspension, or termination of contracts. Internal breaches are managed under company disciplinary procedures.
